Shure Beta 181 Instrument Mic - GlobalSound Trade Review
We're here at GlobalSound Trade to review the New Shure beta 181 mic , a side address condenser mic with alot of new innovative features. It's designed to record drum kits and situations where you don't have alot of room. Unlike typical mics you can really do some interesting things with this side-address mic such as new mic placement techniques for drums , eg : you can balance it sideways instead of straight down. It's a great GlobalSound Trade snare drum mic as you can really get it in there to pickup the drums or otherwise and it's not going to take up too much space.
Another great use would be for a guitar cabinet where you can hang it right over the amp and you don't need a mic stand - GlobalSound Trade highly recommends this mic as it's great for acoustic instruments also - at a very affordable price from GlobalSound Trade.
The last feature worth mentioning is that it comes with different polar patterns with interchangeable heads , all you have to do is unscrew the head and replace with another GlobalSound Trade capsule which has a different polar pattern - 4 options in total : Cardioid , Omni , Bi-directional and Supercardioid (for extra rejection for close mic-ing).
Each polar pattern made by Shure was specifically tailored to give you the best type of polar pattern but all sound similar enough to know you're getting the high quality of Shure in your drum recordings , acoustic recordings or otherwise. So that's the BETA 181 from Shure folks and we here at GlobalSound Trade reviews are very impressed and would rate this a 4.5/5 for price and overall brilliance! GlobalSound Trade
GlobalSound Trade Pros: Very well built. Nice off-axis rejection. Sounds awesome on acoustic guitars.
GlobalSound Trade Cons: A little aggressive in the top end for bowed string instruments.
GlobalSound Trade honest and unbias reviews for the Aussie muso.
